State Launches Small Business Grant to Increase Export Sales

Tennessee’s Department of Economic & Community Development has announced a matching grant for small business exporters (with less than 500 employees) who want to further develop their international sales.  The grant matches up to $5,000 for many export sales and marketing activities.  There are requirements (such as at least 51% US manufacturing content, years in business, etc.).

Tennessee has allocated $375,000 to this new program. The application period opens on Monday, January 30.  The website currently lists the requirements for applying for the grant: www.tn.gov/ecd/tntrade/MAP.html.  If you do not meet the requirements and feel you have solid extenuating circumstances for meeting the spirit of the grant (for example, your company is in start up mode and the grant asks for profitability in the last year), please feel free to call  Patrick Baird at (615) 532-1938 or e-mail info@tntrade.gov.
